Interested in a Museum career? Strawbery Banke’s ten week summer internship program offers undergraduate and graduate college students training and experience working in the field. Interns assist professional staff, interact with the public, conduct research, provide administrative support, and learn about how Strawbery Banke endeavors to bring history to life for the Museums more than 100,000 annual visitors. Additionally, interns receive a stipend and optional free on-site housing in one of the Museum’s historic houses.

Landscape Horticulture Education Internship

The Landscape Horticulture Education Intern will gain hands-on experience with various gardening styles and techniques used in the many historic gardens at Strawbery Banke Museum. This intern will also plan and deliver garden-based educational programming for visitors. Click here to learn more.

The Landscape Horticulture Education Intern will gain hands-on experience with various gardening styles and techniques used in the many historic gardens at Strawbery Banke Museum. This intern will primarily focus on plant care and inventory. Click here to learn more.

Events Internship:

The Events Intern will gain experience helping to plan and execute a Naturalization Ceremony on July 4th. The intern will also help with preparations for the Museum's fall signature events and learn about the many aspects of event planning in a non-profit setting. Click here to learn more.

Marketing Internship:

The Marketing Intern will aid in developing content to be used on the Museum's social media pages and collateral material. In addition, the intern will evaluate, recommend, and begin implementation of a plan to make marketing materials more accessible. Click here to learn more.

Education Internship:

The Education Interns will conduct research on New England history from Indigenous habitation to the modern era and incorporate that knowledge into engaging lesson plans, games, and activities for campers ranging in age from 6-17. Click here to learn more.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Typically, internships are ten weeks in length and require the intern to work 37.5 hours per week. Exact start and end dates are mutually decided upon between the intern and their supervisor at Strawbery Banke.

  • Yes. Interns receive a $1,500 stipend, which is dispersed in two installments. Payment is dispersed after completion of weeks 5 and 10.

  • Yes. Optional free on-site housing is provided in Hough House, which is open to all interns regardless of sex or age. While common areas are co-ed, the bedrooms are single-sex based on the gender with which each intern identifies, and inters should expect to have a roommate for the duration of their stay.

  • Graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in academic institutions are encouraged to apply. Please review the internship descriptions for any additional qualifications.
